Complimented as a brilliant baritone by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, ennobled as an excellent singer with outstanding technique by FAZ, Opera Now and Opernwelt, Peter Schöne with his expressive baritone is today regarded nationally and internationally as one of the most versatile opera, concert and lieder singers.
Since his operatic debut at the Komische Oper Berlin as Eddy in the opera Greek by Mark-Antony Turnage he has been engaged as a soloist at more than 20 opera houses, where he sang almost all the roles in his genre. Most recently, he enjoyed great success with the title role in the opera Guillaume Tell by Rossini, with Jochanaan by Richard Strauss and as Count Luna in Il Trovatore Giuseppe Verdi.
The production Macbeth Underworld (opera by Pascal Dusapin) in which he sang and impersonated the title role was broadcast by ARTE in 2021.
Since the beginning of his career, Peter Schöne has been intensively engaged in the German piano song. A complete recording of all Schubert songs is currently being made at www.schubertlied.de. Peter Schöne is a welcome guest with orchestras such as the NDR Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Deutsche Kammervirtuosen, musikfabrik or Ensemble Kontrapunkte Wien.
His close cooperation with the pianists Axel Bauni and Jan Philip Schulze, as well as with the composers Aribert Reimann, Pascal Dusapin, Gordon Kampe, Wilhelm Killmayer, and Wolfgang Rihm, reveals his distinct talent for the music of the 20th and 21st centuries.
His passionate commitment to this music has been honored with the Schneider-Schott Music Prize.
In 2015, he was elected to the Board of Curators of the aDevantgarde.
In 2022 he will sing Wotan in Richard Wagners Rheingold for the first time.
Peter Schöne is a studied violinist and lives with his wife, the director Barbara Schöne, daughter Clara and son Severin in Saarbrücken, where he is engaged at the Staatstheater
