Complimented as brilliant baritone by Sueddeutsche Zeitung, ennobled as an excellent singer with outstanding technic by FAZ, Opera Now and Opernwelt, Peter Schoene has established his international reputation as concert, opera and liedersinger.
He has won several competitions, including the Schubert-Competition in Graz and Bundeswettbewerb Gesang, and was prizewinner at the ARD music competition.
Since his operatic debut as Eddy in Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Greek at the Komische Oper Berlin in 2002 Peter Schöne has performed almost all the major baritone repertoire in more than twenty opera houses.
His roles have included Guillaume Tell, Jochanaan (Salome) as well as Amfortas (Parsifal) and Germont (La Traviata).
Peter Schoene was born in Berlin in 1976 and began playing the violin at the age of five. First he studied violin and later singing with Harald Stamm at the University of Arts Berlin and took part in masterclasses with Brigitte Fassbaender, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Francisco Araiza, Edda Moser and Thomas Hampson.
He has performed internationally in concert and recital, including engagements with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, NDR Symphony Orchestra, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, the Münchner Rundfunkorchester and the Ensemble Kontrapunkte Vienna and collaborated with the conductors Ulf Schirmer, Kent Nagano, Thomas Adès, Dennis Russel Davies and Kirill Petrenko. Past and future collaborations include projects with pianists like Helmut Deutsch, Jan Philip Schulze and Eduard Stan.

A keen proponent of contemporary music, Peter has worked extensively with the pianist Axel Bauni and the composers Aribert Reimann, Wolfgang Rihm, Wilhelm Killmayer and Moritz Eggert.
In acknowledgement of this work he was awarded the Schneider-Schott Music Prize by the City of Mainz.
In 2015 he was elected as head member of aDevantgarde, the association of contemporary composers in Munich.
Peter lives in Saarbrücken together with his wife, the scene director Barbara Schöne, daughter Clara and son Severin.
